Dear Moms, 
 On April 12, 2007 I experienced the most empowering event of my life as Emilee Lane made her way into our world. Rewind 17 months, I wasn’t planning to become pregnant and it was a beautiful but overwhelming surprise. Of course, I immediately ran right out for my copy of What to Expect When Expecting. After all, this is required reading for mommy hood 101, right?  The insanity didn’t stop there; I was fueled by any book that mentioned pregnancy as I was sure all this reading was going to prepare me to be the best mommy ever. The moment she arrived I realized the books were nothing more than entertainment for the long 9 months you wait to meet your angel. No single page could have prepared me for the first look into my daughter’s eyes. No page mentioned that gaze stops the clock for just a moment. I was so not prepared!  

During my pregnancy the topic of becoming a stay-at-home mom arose and my husband and I decided that this would be best for our family and that we would do what we had to, to ensure this was a possibility. We became squirrels with our money and stored every dime possible. We quickly learned to live on one income so that we would be totally prepared once she arrived. Once again, we were so not prepared for the amount of diapers, wipes, bottles, formula, products ( who knew they made so many) clothes, blankets, shoes- oh yes and then the college fund. Discovering that one income would be uncomfortably tight with my new found love of everything baby paired with my passion to still stay-at-home, lead me here now. Months ago, I set out on the World Wide Web to find a way to bring in a few extra dollars. I, too, quickly grew tired of the promises of 15,000 a month, I don’t believe in the super berry, don’t aspire to be Mary Kay and there was no way in hell I was licking envelopes. I came up empty for a legit, stay-at-home income source that did not want to take my income first.

Moms Home Business Network was born once I shared my frustrations with my father. Back to my story, the short of it is that I have learned a lot about life since Emilee arrived. I’ve realized that I owe it to her to do all that I can to be prepared, whatever that means.
